Privacy policy

Your files stay on your device when you use our conversion tools.

Files and tool input

The conversion tools process files and pasted text in your browser. We do not receive or store the files you choose, the text you paste, or the results you download. You do not need an account to use the tools.

Website requests

When your browser loads the site, the hosting provider receives information needed to serve it, which may include your IP address, browser details, and the pages requested. Hosting providers may keep routine request and security logs under their own policies.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to learn which pages people visit and which tools and buttons they use, such as how often a conversion is started and whether it succeeds. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, browser and device details, and the pages you view, and Google handles this data under its privacy policy. We send it only coarse details about your files, such as the file type and a size range. It never receives your file names, file contents, the text you paste, or your results. You can block analytics with your browser's cookie or content-blocking settings.

Messages you send

If you email hello@thetoolproject.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use that information to read and respond to you and to address the issue you raised. Do not send sensitive files or personal information you do not want shared with us. You can ask us to delete your message by emailing the same address.

GitHub

If you visit the repository or post an issue, GitHub handles that visit and anything you submit there under its privacy statement. Issues are public, so do not include private data in them.

Changes and questions

We may update this policy if the site changes. The current version will appear on this page. For questions about your data, email hello@thetoolproject.com.
