How to convert JFIF to JPG
Choose images from your device or drop them onto the converter. You can choose one image, a batch of up to 200 images, or a ZIP containing them. Each image can be up to 50 MB. Press Convert to JPG, then download the results individually or together in one ZIP. Folders inside your ZIP are kept, and unrelated files are left out with a note. The original images stay on your device. The result has the same base name with the new extension, so you can match it to the original.
What is JFIF?
JFIF means JPEG File Interchange Format: the standard layout most JPEG files use. A .jfif file is already a JPEG with a less common extension. Some Windows PCs save JPEG images from the web with this extension. The name alone does not prove the contents, so the converter checks the bytes before copying. Plain .jpg and .jpeg files work too, useful when a folder contains both spellings.
No quality loss
No quality loss: a real JPEG is saved under the new name without being re-compressed. Every byte stays unchanged, including metadata and the orientation tag. If a PNG or another readable image was renamed .jfif, it is decoded and converted to JPG at 0.92 quality with a white background instead. The result note tells you which files were copied and which were converted. Changing the extension cannot repair a damaged JPEG.
JPG or JPEG?
JPG and JPEG are two extensions for the same image format. To convert JFIF to JPEG, choose .jpeg; otherwise the default .jpg works. Both open in the same apps, so choose the extension your upload form requests. The result keeps the original base name: scan.jfif becomes scan.jpg or scan.jpeg. Renaming does not resize the photo or remove metadata. For other output formats, use JFIF to PNG, Merge JFIF to PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Is JFIF the same as JPG? Yes. JFIF describes the usual JPEG file layout; JPG is a common extension for that same image format.
Can I just rename .jfif to .jpg? Yes, when the file contains JPEG data. This page does that for many files at once and for ZIPs, without overwriting the originals.
Does converting JFIF to JPEG lose quality? No, for real JPEG files: the downloaded bytes are identical. Mislabelled images are re-encoded, with a note.
Are my images uploaded? No. Your browser reads and converts the images on your device, and nothing is sent to a server, so the converter is also safe to use for private photos and screenshots.
