WebP to SVG

Convert WebP to SVG vector paths. The converter traces the image into filled shapes that stay sharp at any size, for logos, icons, design apps and cutting machines. It can also place the exact pixels inside an SVG file. Everything runs in this browser.

How to convert WebP to SVG

Drop .webp files or a .zip of them onto the converter, or choose them from your device. Choose the SVG type and the number of colors, then press Convert to SVG. Download each SVG, or all of them in one ZIP.

Vector paths or an embedded image

Vector paths turns areas of similar color into filled shapes. The SVG stays sharp at any size, and you can edit it in apps such as Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma and Cricut Design Space. It works best for logos, icons, text and flat drawings. Photos come out posterized, made of a few flat colors, and make large files.

Embedded image keeps every pixel by placing the image, as a PNG, inside the SVG file. It looks exactly like the WebP, but it’s still made of pixels: it doesn’t get sharper when enlarged, and cutting machines can’t cut it. Use it when a website or app only accepts SVG files.

Choosing the number of colors

The number of colors sets how many flat colors the tracing uses. 2 suits black-and-white logos, signatures and stencils, 8 or 16 suits most logos and icons, and 32 keeps more shading but makes a bigger file. Images larger than about 1 megapixel are traced at that size to keep tracing quick, and the SVG still displays at the original size. An animated WebP is converted from its first frame.

Frequently asked questions

Is the SVG a real vector file? With Vector paths, yes: the file contains only shapes and no pixels. With Embedded image, no: it’s an SVG file that contains the original pixels.

Why does my traced photo look posterized? Tracing turns an image into a limited number of flat colors. That suits logos and drawings, but a photo’s smooth shading can’t be made from a few shapes. Choose 32 colors for more detail, or convert the photo to PNG or JPG instead.

Are my images uploaded? No. Your browser reads and converts the images on your device, and nothing is sent to a server, so the converter is also safe to use for private photos and screenshots.
